I chose the opera "The Love for Three Oranges" by Sergei Prokofief as my Masters Thesis because it is a large scale and relatively unknown piece that gave me a lot of creative freedom.

The plot is pretty twisted, and the characters cover a wide variety of dramatic, crazy, magical people, which is just what I wanted!

I took inspiration from the art of James Christensen to create the multi-layered, many-textiled looks. The variety of layers and textiles also worked symbolically with all of the layers that are part of the complicated plot.

Since this project was my Master's Thesis, most of the the costumes were never realized. I would still love to see these costumes created and have life on stage!
